    I'm curious how you like your carport, specifically with the one side closed in like it is. Was that to keep sun off of the fifth wheel?

      Hello, We love the Rv awning. The one side was to just give us a closed in wall so we could store stuff without it getting wet. The sun mostly shined on the other side so we added a shade screen.

    I was just wondering (and I see you are from Texas)... I see some people really insulating their floors with thick insulation pads like Rockwool or such alike. I have also seen people following your method with the reflective barrier (1:50). Are you using this method because a thick floor insulation isn't neccessary due to the temperatures in Texas? Why would one choose one method over the other? Hopefully you can clarify this for me. I hope to build my own cabin one day and I'm gathering inspiration through your and other videos. Therefore, thank you very much. Your videos are very enjoyable and informational.

      Yes! It’s been brutal in Texas this summer with no rain in over 2 months. The clover is thriving next to the bushes but dying everywhere else, they just take a lot of water with the extreme temps and we may have missed a few days of making sure they got water.😬 But they will come back and look great for fall and spring!

    Question, did you say you were only going to have one door in the cabin and are your windows going to be fixed in place. If this is true, you need two doors for emergency evacuation and bedroom windows should be made to open so that you can get out that way if you have to.

    You have lax building codes or you are building without a permit. No foundation below a possible frost line. No anchor points. Small floor joists. I am scared to see what is coming up next.

    • @BlueSpringFarm
      @BlueSpringFarm Рік тому

      Yes we are in the sticks, no permits required. We’re learning as we go and we will make mistakes but hey we are trying!🤞🏻 Anchors and straps will be very soon.

    • @approots
      @approots 8 місяців тому

      Perhaps consult a span table before commenting on the "small floor joists"? Looks like 2x6 on 16" centers over a 8' span. Max allowable span is 9' 11". Bigger joists would be a waste. Also, floating foundation is a good cheap method and even used in Alaska. It can be adjusted when settling or frost heave occurs.

    • @Azframer
      @Azframer 8 місяців тому

      @@BlueSpringFarm everything over 120sq ft has to have a permit pulled in Arizona. The span of 2X8s is preferred after seeing how some sheds are overloaded with too much weight. No rebuilding huge V8 on a stand...JS
